Ghostface return !

During a "speedsculpt" thursday with friends on Discord, our theme was "mask". Unfortunately, I find it hard to stop at just the sculpting phase because I love painting textures so much. So, here is the result of that "speedsculpt" session that got a little out of hand !

"What's your favorite scary movie ?" The iconic line from Ghostface in the original Scream! I couldn't leave it out of the final render. The text was created using grease pencil, while the distortion and glow were achieved entirely through compositing.

The character was first sculpted in Zbrush. Since Speedsculpt sessions are often short, I stuck to a bust for this project.

A 360° view of Ghostface, textured and composited. The textures were hand painted in Substance Painter mixed with some smart materials. The fabric patches were painted in Krita before being imported into Substance painter.

A breakdown video showcasing the solid view, normal map, base color and final result. I didn't include the wireframe since only the mask was manually retopologized. To save time, the clothing was processed using the QuadRemesher addon in Blender.

A look at some compositing passes. I'm not showing every single pass since I used cryptomattes to treat the character and the background text separately.
